02/27/18 - Whatisadam aka. WIA in his Studio, located within the Station 16 Printshop in Montreal.
Had the pleasure of getting a first hand look at the artist's creative process. WIA creates his heavily Canadian-themed works through a combination of processes including; hand painted brush work, spray paint and silkscreening. Coming from a analog photography background, it was very interesting to discover the many parallels between silkscreening and darkroom photo printing.
I Always enjoy observing and learning new techniques from artists. In WIA's case, along with with his printing expertise, the resourcefulness in which he approaches his craft has directly resulted in unexpected aesthetics which are now intentionally recreated and have become a signature style.
Congrats on the show Adam!
